We install travertine on both floors and walls of commercial and residential spaces throughout Utah. When preparing the surface and planning the layout, we also consider natural pits, voids, irregular edges, and varying thickness of the tile to achieve professional results.

Where We Install Travertine Tile

Kitchen Floors and Backsplashes

When properly sealed, it works well both for floors and walls of busy kitchens.

Bathrooms and Showers

We install travertine on bathroom floors, walls, and tub surrounds over a proper waterproofing system suitable for wet areas.

Entryways and Living Areas

Travertine flooring works well in areas with regular foot traffic when the selected stone and finish suit the space.

Fireplace Surrounds

Travertine adds visual depth and warmth around interior fireplaces. We select the stone that matches application requirements.

We install filled, unfilled, honed, tumbled, polished, and brushed travertine based on the requirements of the space.  Filled travertine has its natural voids filled with epoxy, resin, or cement, offering a more uniform, easier-to-clean surface. Unfilled travertine has visible natural pits and is selected to achieve a rustic or classic look.

The smooth, matte finish of honed travertine makes it an ideal choice for bathrooms and living room floors. Tumbled travertine has softened edges and a more rustic appearance, while polished travertine creates a smoother, reflective finish. Brushed travertine adds surface texture and is preferred for areas where better grip is needed.

The Process – Travertine Tile Installation

We prepare the surface for travertine with proper subfloor preparation, leveling, and layout planning to help prevent uneven tiles and bonding problems. When needed, we dry-lay sections to review the stone’s natural variation and placement before setting the tile.

Sealing and Maintenance

Depending on the stone and desired results, we apply a penetrating or impregnating sealer to reduce moisture and stain absorption. A color-enhancing sealer can be used when you want to deepen the stone’s natural tones.

Travertine Tile Installation Cost

In Utah, installing travertine stone tile costs around $5 to $20 per square foot for labor. The price depends on the selected stone, tile size, installation area, layout complexity, surface preparation, and finishing requirements. We also provide project-based estimates because the same price doesn’t apply to all installations.

FAQ’s

Do both travertine and grout need sealing after installation?

Many travertine tiles and standard cement-based grout benefit from sealing, which helps prevent staining, moisture absorption, and maintenance issues.

Can travertine be used indoors and outdoors in Utah?

Yes. For indoor applications, we select travertine based on the room’s use and moisture exposure. But for exterior use, freeze-thaw conditions in Utah should also be considered.
